Announcing.....

LOONS AND MORE!

Lac Le Jeune Resort, Kamloops, BC

Two date options: June 25 - June 30, 2010 and/or June 30 - July 4, 2010

Loon and Chick

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to Photograph Common Loons, with chicks, at close range, as well as many other species and learn the techniques Greg uses to capture captivating still images and make them look their best.

We will be based at the 3.5 star Lac Le Jeune Resort which sits right on the main lake where the loons nest and raise their young.

All meals, lodging and other expenses as well as un intimidating and casual photographic instruction is included - all you have to do is get yourself there and we will take care of the rest!

Loon Running

We will have access to kayaks, canoes and small motor boats as well as a pontoon boat. We are at 4200' elevation and the city, which is only 20 minutes away, is 1100' elevation - this provides a variety of bird species as well as wildflowers for us to photograph!

Here is what some are saying about the 2009 trip:

Alan Nelson of Montana writes:

Just wanted to let you know I thought the trip was fantastic!!!!!! We had a great boat driver that missed out on some shot so others could get them. That is what separates a good tour leader from others

Neil Solomon from California writes:

From very close encounters with Loons to nesting Woodpeckers. Throw in a few Hummingbirds, too. This workshop should not be missed! I had a wonderful experience!

Flicker and Young

On the lake in front of the lodge you can easily photograph Barrow's Goldeneye with chicks, Common Loons with chicks, Ring-necked and other Ducks with chicks and, at the front door feeders, Rufous & Calippes hummers, Stellars, Junco's, Pine Siskins, Casins Finch, Grey Jays, Hairy & Downy Woodpeckers, Mountain & Black-capped Chickadees and more!

On the water, we have access to no less than 3 pairs of loons and usually 4-5 chicks and, every morning, 6-12 single loons in front of lodge. Most of the loons are friendly and fairly easy to photograph at close range. Besides the Common Loons on the lakes you can photograph Marsh Wrens, Black Terns and several other types of ducks (many nesting.)

Mad Loon

We will also have opportunities available for nesting Red-necked Grebes, nesting Mountain Bluebirds as well Yellow-headed Blackbirds and nesting Woodpeckers.

We can usually enjoy great blue sky weather and warm days during time of year and at lower elevations we have rattle snakes, cactus and sagebrush which usually surprises most visitors.

Because of the high elevation of the lodge everyone should be prepared for possible cool days and nights.

The bird info above is virtually guaranteed!
